Youngmenshealthsite.org (YMH) is a website produced by the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Children’s Hospital Boston. The purpose of the website is to provide carefully researched health information to teenage boys and young men.
The Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine, led by Dr. S. Jean Emans, Division Chief, has a long-standing dedication to providing health information to teen boys and young men. Back in 1999, the Adolescent Division started making health information available on adolescenthealth.com, including contributions by Dr. Todd Callahan. In 2008, with expert revisions, new web design, and new contributions by our world-class health-care providers, those early pages evolved into the current website.
The website's coordinator, Judith Siegel, is a Licensed Independent Clinical social worker who is committed to the area of young men's health. She has developed many of our online health guides and curricula. Our resident designer, Amanda Kohn, is devoted to imparting essential health information to our readers, through clear, accurate, and beautiful design. Our web developer Dana King is experienced in building informational websites, and believes that educational materials should be easy to find on the web so that we can spend our time reading, interacting, and learning together. Dr. Sara Forman is a physician specializing in adolescent medicine, and has been instrumental in the development of the website.
YMH was initially funded by a grant from the Mannion Fund, through the Social Work Department and the Center For Families at Children’s Hospital Boston. The website continues to be guided and supported by the work of the Young Men’s Health Task Force, which is made up of staff members from our Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine Practice. We are also grateful to the staff of the Center for Young Women's Health (the creators of youngwomenshealth.org), who paved the way in content development, site structure, and design.
The mission of youngmenshealthsite is to help teen boys improve their understanding of normal health and development, as well as of specific diseases and conditions. We want to empower teen boys and young men around the world to take an active role in their own health care.
