Thanks for your question. Many guys wonder about how to increase testosterone levels. Testosterone is a hormone that all people have. Sex-assigned at birth males have higher levels of testosterone, which is a key hormone in male puberty. Signs of low testosterone include:
- low libido (sex drive)
- decreased morning erections
- loss of body hair
- small testes
- gynecomastia
If you have any of these symptoms, we recommend you talk to your health care provider. They may recommend blood tests, and if needed prescribe testosterone.
We do NOT recommend drinking sperm. This will not increase your testosterone level. You should only take testosterone if a health care provider prescribes it. Over the counter testosterone products (i.e. products you can buy without a prescription) are not regulated and may have bad health effects.
A health care provider should monitor any testosterone product use closely. Testosterone can increase production of red blood cells and this may increase the risk of a blood clot. There is also some concern that it may negatively affect heart health.
Here is a tip on how to talk about it with your health care provider: “I’m wondering if my testosterone levels are normal.”
