Thanks for asking! It is not at all weird to ask to have your privates examined. In fact, it would be weird for the doctor not to offer that part of the exam to a young man your age. In our clinic, we routinely examine private areas at all annual physical exams to look for abnormalities, find problems that might be developing or even just to make sure everything looks okay. That said, if you felt uncomfortable or didn’t want the doctor to do any part of the exam, you should just tell them–you are the boss.
