Migraines are a difficult type of headache to treat. It’s very important to figure out what triggers your migraines – common triggers include stress, smoking, lack of sleep, or taking headache medicines such as ibuprofen or Tylenol too often.
Keep a daily diary of your activities and see if you can figure out what triggers your migraines, and then try and avoid those triggers! Chronic migraine patients also find staying hydrated, getting regular exercise, and practicing relaxation techniques can help them get fewer migraines. People who have migraines more than twice per week may be prescribed a medicine (to take every day) to keep the migraines from happening so frequently. If your migraines aren’t getting better after trying to avoid triggers, see your health care provider.
