Removing your pubic hair is a personal preference. Some guys trim, some wax, some shave, and some just leave it alone. There’s no medical reason to remove your hair, but removing it is definitely ok, as long as you do it safely, using the correct tools (such as a sharp pair of scissors and/or a sharp razor).
If you’re getting razor burn in your pubic area after shaving, here are some things you can do to relieve the discomfort:
- Soak in a warm tub or take a shower and let the warm water spray your pubic area
- Pat the skin (don’t rub) with a soft towel or dry with a hair dryer on the low setting
- Apply a fragrance-free lotion
- Stop shaving for a while
