This is a great question, thanks for asking. The short and simplest answer is it’s totally safe to exercise while wearing a facial covering. It’s important to mention that wearing a mask during exercise does not impact your physical performance. Sure, it might be a little awkward at first, but overtime your body and mind will adjust. Think about when you wore a mask out for the first time, it took some time to get used to it right? Well, the same can be said about wearing a mask to workout, over time you get used to it.
However, finding the right type of mask for working out might help you adjust to wearing it quicker. Bring a few different masks with you to work out to find which feels the most comfortable. You can even try them out over the course of your workout to find out which one works best for you!
It is important to mention that if you experience dizziness, nausea, discomfort, fatigue, headache, shortness of breath, or drowsiness to stop exercising right away. If you continue to feel this way after you have stopped working out call your health care provider (HCP).
