Whenever I get an erection, my penis is facing the direction of my belly button. When I try to move it forward, there’s tension and a little discomfort. Is this normal or how can I fix it?

Thanks for your question. When tissue inside the penis fills with blood it causes an erection. The penis becomes hard and increases in size. Different people describe this feeling differently, though some people may notice some tension. An erection should never be painful. Moving an erect penis should also never be painful.

If you notice you are having pain with erections, it’s a good idea to talk to your health care provider. They can let you know if everything is normal or not, and what to do next.
