There is no method to determine a person’s height that is 100% accurate. Your adult height is controlled mostly by your genes (the traits that you receive from your parents/family at birth). Other factors that can affect your height include: the age your body begins to change (puberty), nutrition, chronic illnesses and certain medication. The formula below can estimate what your height will be as an adult.
- Add your mother and father’s height in inches or centimeters.
- Add 5 inches (for boys)
- Divide this number by 2
Example: 65 + 75 = 140, add 5 inches = 145, divide by 2= 72.5
72.5 inches = 6 feet 1/2 inch
Your adult height will be about- 6’1/2” (give or take a couple of inches)
The best way to grow to your full height is to stay healthy, eat a well-balanced and nutritious diet, exercise daily, and get enough sleep. Avoid taking over-the-counter products that claim to make you taller. They don’t work and can actually cause health problems.
