Engaging in/enjoying anal play doesn’t mean that you’re gay. In 2010, a paper titled “Heterosexual Anal Sexuality and Anal Sex Behaviors: A Review” was published in the Journal of Sex Research. In addition to the discussion of the prevalence of anal intercourse among heterosexual men and women, the article discusses the findings of a study (2008) on the prevalence of anal play (non-intercourse anal sex behaviors) among a sample of men and women. This study found that 51% of the men had participated in at least one instance of oral-anal, manual-anal, or anal-sex toy acts over a period of 30 days.
