Unless you have been circumcised recently (and need time to heal), your body is ready to have sex. But wait, there’s a lot more to think about before you give it a go. Even though you’re physically able to have sex (whether you are circumcised or not), you’ll need to ask yourself if you are emotionally ready and you’ll need to learn how to use condoms (to lower your risk of getting a sexually transmitted infection). You will also need to talk to your partner to make sure they want to have sex.
In terms of having sex…it’s not necessary but most uncircumcised guys pull their foreskin back before putting on a condom but that’s a personal preference. The foreskin naturally retracts with an erection. In case you were wondering, studies have shown that there is no difference in sexual pleasure whether you are circumcised or not. It’s all good!
It can be difficult sometimes to ask questions that involve such sensitive areas of your body; however, we strongly encourage you to talk to your health care provider whenever you have concerns about your health.
