Thanks for your question. A jock strap and cups can be helpful protective gear for sports, just like a helmet. A jock strap helps keep the penis and testicles close to your body during movement, and so may help prevent injury. For non-contact sports (such as track) a jock strap may provide enough protection. For contact sports (such as basketball and football) we recommend wearing a jock strap and a cup, which will provide extra protection.

- Are there any sports for which guys should wear genital protection? I got hit in the thigh with a fast ball. It left a big purple bruise and just missed my right nut. Should I be wearing a jockstrap and cup? A few guys do, but more don’t.
- After I have PE or team sports, I smell really bad. I have a PE shirt to change into, I put deodorant on before and after the class starts and I take showers everyday but sometimes while in class I randomly start to sweat. What can I do so I don’t smell bad?
