When I sit, even for a short period of time, I tend to have pins and needles in my legs to the point that I don’t feel my legs anymore. Sometimes it also happens to my arms and hands. What is this? Is there anything I can do to stop it?

Thanks for your question! Paresthesia is the unusual and unexpected burning or prickling sensation in the hands, feet, arms, and or legs, aka “pins and needles.” There are other causes such as spinal nerve problem in your neck or back or a vitamin deficiency, meaning your body is lacking some super important vitamins, such as vitamin B-12, B-6, B-1, and E. You may have also been exposed to toxins such as lead or alcohol. Finally, another serious cause of paresthesia may be diabetes, so it’s best to speak with your health care provider (HCP). Schedule an appointment with your health care provider (HCP) right away. Your HCP will be able to help determine the possible cause of the paresthesia and recommend tests and interventions if needed.
