Thanks for your question. It’s great that you care about your hygiene. In general, you should wash your penis with warm water and mild soap whenever you would wash the rest of your body (once a day, after exercising, etc.).
- Lather the soap in your hand and then gently wash your penis and scrotum. That skin is sensitive so don’t scrub as this can irritate your genitals. Also if the soap is too irritating try a milder soap or only use warm water.
- Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
If you are uncircumcised it’s important to gently pull back your foreskin and wash with soap and water as well. Never use a lot of force to pull back your foreskin. If you notice you need to use a lot of force, you should talk to your medical provider.
You should also clean your penis after ejaculation. Although don’t worry; it doesn’t have to be right away. You can shower, bath, or use a wash cloth. You just need warm water, mild soap and a clean towel. The rest of the steps are the same as above.
